§ 84. Mr. Stanbrookasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will propose that a simple backing-of-warrants system should apply for the purposes of extradition between member states of the European Community.
§ Mr. John PattenIf enacted, the Criminal Justice Bill would allow the United Kingdom to accede to the Council of Europe convention on extradition. This is a well-established and effective instrument which enables extradition requests to be made on the basis of relatively simple documentation. We therefore see no need for any special and different arrangements within the European Community.
