HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c66W
Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the maximum time between hearings by the Edinburgh social security appeal tribunal and the dispatch of that tribunal's written decisions; if he will make a statement on the employment of temporary and permanent staff at that office; if he is satisfied with the performance of the Edinburgh office; and if he intends to take any action to ensure that claimants' cases are resolved more quickly.

Mr. Portillo

The administration of social security appeal tribunals is the responsibility of the President of Social Security and Medical Appeal Tribunals, His Honour Judge Byrt, QC. The hon. Member should write to him about the staffing and performance at the Edinburgh Social Security Appeal Tribunal Clerk's office.
