asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the average weekly hours worked by civil servants (a) in 1964, (b) in 1974 and (c) in the latest year for which figures are available.

Information is available only in respect of conditioned hours worked by the majority of full-time civil servants. These are as follows:
