§ Mr. ChopeIn 1985–86 local government expenditure in England and Wales on teachers' salaries amounted to 22 per cent. of local authority gross spending on the rate fund revenue account. On education other than the payment of teachers' salaries and excluding school meals and milk it amounted to 21 per cent.
§ Mr. Evennettasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of local government income in England and Wales comprises funds provided by central Government.
§ Mr. ChopeIn 1985–86 Government grants and subsidies accounted for 43 per cent. of local government gross income from all accounts, in England and Wales.
