§ Mr. Anthony Coombsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations Her Majesty's Government have made about the fate of Nizametdin Akhmetov, imprisoned since 1966 in Soviet labour camps, and now incarcerated in a psychiatric prison in Kazakhstan.
§ Mr. MellorNizametdin Akhmetov was released from Chelyabinsk special psychiatric hospital in June of this year.
475WWe had previously raised his case with the Soviet authorities and we welcome his release. We shall continue our efforts on behalf of others unjustly detained in Soviet psychiatric institutions.
