HC Deb 15 July 1987 vol 119 c475W
Mr. Evennett

asked the Attorney-General to whom jury panel lists are currently made available; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

Under section 5(2) of the Juries Act 1974, any party to proceedings involving trial by jury, or his representative, is entitled to reasonable facilities for inspecting the jury panel.

Under section 5(4) of the Act the court may, if it thinks fit, grant facilities for inspecting the panel to any other person at any time. This is intended to provide for the legitimate needs of persons such as research students.
