HC Deb 09 July 1987 vol 119 c201W
Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Transport to what factors his department attributes the north-west region's high child road accident victim rate; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

We do not know why the overall numbers of child casualties per 100,000 population has been higher in the north-west in recent years than in other regions outside London.

We shall continue in consultation with local authorities to develop initiatives which will help to protect vulnerable road users including children, throughout the country.
