§ Mr. BrookeBased on staff numbers at 1 October 1986 and the revised pay rates effective from 1 April 1987, it is estimated that there are 18,400 non-industrial staff in the home Civil Service whose basic pay is in excess of £18,500 per annum, 9,100 in excess of £21,500 per annum and 7,500 in excess of £24,000 per annum. Figures for the Northern Ireland Civil Service cannot be provided on precisely the same basis but would add about 5 per cent. to the numbers in each of the three categories.
