§ Mr. Allenasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what discussions the Director of OFTEL has had with British Telecom about the effect of the proposed charges for directory inquiries on the blind and disabled.
§ Mr. ButcherThis is a matter for the Director General of Telecommunications. He is responsible for ensuring that British Telecom complies with the condition of its licence which obliges it to provide directory information free of charge, or with appropriate compensation for any charges paid, to those persons who are so blind or otherwise disabled as to be unable to use a telephone directory.
