The Green Paper "Personal Taxation" dealt specifically with the tax treatment of married women and has been the subject of consultation with a wide range of representative bodies. Changes to the principal Civil Service pension scheme were made on 1 July 1987, to give, wherever possible, equality of treatment for men and women. Training is given to all members of staff to enable them to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively. The Treasury has nominated an equal opportunities officer, and personnel policies and procedures have been reviewed and are being monitored to ensure that they do not discriminate against women.
