§ Dr. Marekasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will consider the possibility of transmitting BBC1 and BBC2 television by satellite to St. Helena.
§ Mr. EggarSt. Helena has no television service and the islanders would require special facilities to receive television programmes broadcast by satellite. We are aware of the potential opportunities offered by satellite broadcasting, but the question of Government involvement raises fundamental policy issues.
