HC Deb 02 July 1987 vol 118 cc127-8W
Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what action he has taken on information so far received from the inspector appointed by him to inquire into insider dealing in the Department of Trade and Industry.

Mr. Maude

Inspectors were appointed last December to investigate possible unlawful insider dealing involving information relating to the exercise of functions under the Fair Trading Act 1973 of the Secretary of State, the Director General of Fair Trading or the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.

My Department is keeping the Director of Public Prosecutions, who would be responsible for any prosecution in this case, informed of its progress, but has not taken any other action on information received from the inspectors.
