§ Mr. Cohenasked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement about the division of responsibility between Departments concerning the environment of the North sea.
§ The Prime MinisterMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is responsible for co-ordinating policy on issues affecting the marine environment, including the North sea. His Department, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Department of Transport, the Department of Energy, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Scottish Office and the Welsh Office, also have responsibility, where appropriate, for various specific aspects of the marine environment.
