§ Mr. Norman LamontCompared with 1978–79, top taxpayers in the United Kingdom are now paying a higher proportion of the total income tax yield. The links between top tax rates and yields can now be analysed in various ways, but I am not aware of any studies in the United Kingdom that have established a quantitative relationship between them.
