§ Mr. Berminghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any prisoners on remand or sentenced are required to submit to blood tests during the course of a medical or other examination.
§ Mr. Mellor[pursuant to his reply, 16 January 1987, c. 337]: Blood tests are carried out only for medical purposes and then only where such a course is clinically indicated and the prisoner gives informed consent. There is no class of case for which the Director of Prison Medical Services has recommended testing as a matter of routine.
