Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will provide figures for the number of people in Coventry dependent on social security benefits, broken down by category of benefit and age group.

Information is not available for centrally paid benefits, for example, retirement pension, about the number of beneficiaries in any particular locality nor, generally, about the beneficiaries' age groups.

The Coventry area is covered by two local offices of the Department, Coventry East and Coventry West, and the latest available information about recipients of various locally administered benefits is as follows:
