§ Mr. Gareth Wardellasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish in the Official Report in rank order (a) the motor cycle casualties per million of the population and (b) the number of motor cycle casualties per 1,000 vehicles for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter Bottomley[pursuant to his reply, 19 January 1987, col. 385]: Because of the differences in definition of road casualties, the only meaningful comparison is of road deaths. The figures are for 1984 and are given separately for motor cycles and mopeds. For clarity, table (b) shows death per 10,000 vehicles licensed.
