§ Mr. RentonThe United Kingdom delegation to the Vienna CSCE follow-up meeting raised the issue of Soviet compliance with its CSCE commitments on many occasions during the first phase of the meeting. Despite a small number of promising signs their overall response has been unsatisfactory. Many questions posed by our delegation to their Soviet counterparts remain unanswered. We hope for a more serious response in the forthcoming phase of the meeting.
