HC Deb 23 January 1987 vol 108 c759W
Mr. David Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the planned levels of capital spending on roads, housing, water and sewerage in 1986–87, the likely outturn for 1986–87 and planned expenditure for 1987–88 by the Scottish Development Department and each of the regional authorities.

Mr. Ancram

Planned capital expenditure on transport, water and sewerage and housing for 1986–87 and 1987–88 is:

1986–87 £ million 1987–88 £ million
Roads
Scottish Development Department 96 107
Local authorities 159 155
Water and sewerage 101 107
Housing 644 720

The information about roads expenditure by local authorities includes expenditure on other forms of transport infrastructure. The information about housing expenditure relates to expenditure by all agencies. The likely outturn for 1986–87 is expected to be closely in line with planned expenditure in all cases.

Decisions have not yet been taken about final capital allocations to regional authorities for 1987–88.
