§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Paymaster General if he will make a statement about proposed reductions in community programme plans in 1987–88; and if he will provide a breakdown of the reductions as between the voluntary sector and the private sector for each of the Manpower Services Commission areas.
§ Mr. Lee[pursuant to his reply, 21 January 1987, c. 564–65]: The Manpower Services Commission plans to provide around 245,000 filled places within the community programme in 1987–88, creating opportunities for about 300,000 long-term unemployed people. The allocation of these places will be determined in the light of local circumstances in the normal way. Resources will continue to be focused on those areas most in need.
