§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give details of the recent submission made by his Department to the European regional development fund in respect of the proposed Dornoch firth rail crossing; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. LangThe United Kingdom regional development programme 1986–90 is the latest United Kingdom document in a series required of all EEC member states as the basis for assistance from the European regional development fund. The "Scottish Profile", one of 17 volumes, includes all major infrastructure proposals which, at the time of preparation of the document, were believed to be potential candidates for the period to 1990. The proposed Dornoch firth rail crossing was included in order that the case for European regional development fund assistance should not be prejudiced in the event of British Rail deciding at some time in the future to proceed with the project.
