§ Dr. McDonaldasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing tax and national insurance contributions less child benefit, where appropriate, for 1986–87, and comparable figures for 1985–86 and 1978–79, with the multiples of average earnings as half, two-thirds, one, five and 10 times for (a) 470W a married couple, with part-time working spouse, (b) a married couple plus two children, with part-time working spouse and (c) a single person;
(2) if he will detail the proportinons of pre- and post-tax increases paid to the top 1 per cent., 2 per cent., 3 per cent., 4 per cent., 5 per cent., 10 per cent., 20 per cent., 30 per cent., 50 per cent., and 75 per cent. of taxpayers in 1978–79 and the latest available year; and what this represents in money terms.
