asked the Secretary of State for Transport what is the total amount of money that has now been spent on design work, administration and construction of the Ashford-Hollingbourne section of the M20.

Staff and other costs in the period up to 1980 when detailed design was undertaken by the Department's Kent sub-unit are not available.

It is not practicable to estimate the Department's administrative costs.
