§ Mr. AncramResponsibility for surveying and recording archaeological sites lies with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland. Lists issued by or through the Commission are made available to local authorities, but it is for the local authorities to decide whether they should themselves maintain records of sites in their areas.
