HL Deb 14 January 1987 vol 483 c628WA
The Earl of Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether certain members of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament have defaced road signs on certain trunk roads recently; and, if so, what action the Department of Transport intends to take.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)

I am not aware of any particular recent examples of members of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament defacing road signs on trunk roads. Graffiti on signs and damage by vandals is a constant problem. Serious damage to signs should be repaired almost immediately, but damage which does not impair the effectiveness of the sign is usually dealt with by routine repairs carried out at six-monthly intervals.
