§ Mr. Chapmanasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will now implement section 7 of the Road Traffic Act 1974, to ban car parking on footways, verges and central reservations in urban areas.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Department has today published a discussion paper which looks at the reasons for pavement parking and the problems it causes. It puts forward various options for tackling the problem and invites interested bodies to comment. The Department has also produced a leaflet summarising the discussion paper which will be made available to the general public. Copies of the discussion paper and leaflet have been placed in the Library.
