§ 36. Mr. Home Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the effect of the deregulation of bus services on traffic congestion in city centres.
§ Mr. AncramThere has been no evidence in Scotland of any significant congestion caused by deregulation, except in Glasgow where other factors appear to have contributed to problems in the city centre. The traffic commissioner will be holding an inquiry in February to determine what traffic regulation conditions, if any, are required to resolve any continuing congestion problems in Glasgow.
