HC Deb 12 January 1987 vol 108 c81W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether a teacher or lecturer may make and keep a recording of an interview by, or meeting with, an inspector for the sake of staff development and safeguarding personal professional reputation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John MacKay

It requires the agreement of all the parties taking part in an interview or meeting for a recording to be taken. In the case of an interview between a teacher or lecturer and one of Her Majesty's inspectors it would depend on the circumstances whether or not the inspector would agree to a recording being taken.
