Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the reasons for his decision to veto the agreement for a weekly pension increase of £1.41p to elderly police widows; and what saving he expects to make.

1The basis on which the figures are recorded was changed in 1983. From 1983 the figures record the number of operations in which firearms were issued; the figure for 1982 and earlier years record the number of occasions on which firearms were issued.
