Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many squadrons of helicopters are currently based with the Royal Air Force in Germany; and if he will list the number of each type.

Mr. Stanley

Two squadrons of RAF helicopters are currently based in Germany, comprising one squadron of Chinooks and one squadron of Puma. It is not our practice to reveal details of numbers of operational aircraft.

Mr. McNamara

There are 10 Army air corps helicopter squadrons currently based in Germany operating Gazelle and Lynx helicopters. It is not our practice to reveal details of numbers of operational aircraft.
