HC Deb 12 January 1987 vol 108 c125W
Dr. Marek

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will be prepared to fund a research project at Edinburgh university department of bacteriology which proposes to investigate a potentially significant area of bacterial infection relating to blood group Antigen non-secretors.

Mr. John MacKay

I have been asked to reply.

Funding towards the cost of the research project to which the hon. Member refers, has been provided by the Scottish Hospital Endowments Research Trust, which is a non-departmental public body. The trust has undertaken to review the progress of the project after one year but the researchers may, if they so wish, apply for further funding either to the trust, or the Medical Research Council.
