§ Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received from the chairman of the Medical Research Council's working party on AIDS seeking more resources for AIDS research.
§ Mr. WaldenI refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply of 18 December 1986 to my hon. Friend the Member for Surrey, South West (Mrs. Bottomley) (cols. 666–67) in which he announced that the Medical Research Council is to receive an increase in its grant-in-aid of £1 million a year for AIDS research. That addition is to take effect from 1987–88. Since then my right hon. Friend has discussed the programme of work with the secretary of the Medical Research Council.
