§ Mr. AncramThe statutory procedures for the A7 Sandbed junction improvement scheme have been completed. Because of the small scale of the project, there will be no advertisment for interested contractors. Instead a short list of contractors will be invited by Borders regional council, as agents for the Secretary of State, to tender in March. It is planned to commence work in May, with the work spread over four months. Demolition work is expected to take approximately one week. A landscaping scheme is being prepared, and the views of interested parties will be sought and considered. Grants are available for the repair and maintenance of buildings which are of outstanding architectural or historical interest, and towards the costs incurred in the preservation or enhancement of the character or appearance of outstanding conservation areas.
