Mr. John M. Taylorasked the Attorney-General if he will make a statement on the problems concerning the title 12W to the property known as 117 Pierce Avenue, Solihull (Treasury Solicitor ref. Bv 2358/86/Bs) and the delay in selling that property.
The Attorney-GeneralThe property to which the hon. Member refers was originally offered for sale by a receiver appointed by the Court of Protection. When the owner of the property died in August 1986 the receiver's authority ceased; and since it appeared that she had died intestate and without known relatives the matter was referred to the Treasury Solicitor for consideration whether the estate fell to be administered by him on behalf of the Crown by virtue of section 46(vi) of the Administration of Estates Act 1925.
The Treasury Solicitor's inquiries are proceeding, but in order to avoid delay he proposes to apply to the court for authority to sell the property to the proposed purchasers or, if they are unable or unwilling to complete, on the advice of the district valuer.
