§ Mr. Deakinsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Stretford (Mr. Lloyd) on 18 February, Official Report, column 905, in which countries, other than Nicaragua, it is an objective of Her Majesty's Government to establish a full pluralist democracy.
§ Mr. EggarIt is an objective of this Government's foreign policy to uphold the right of self-determination, the rule of international law and respect for human rights, 267W in accordance with the United Nations Charter and related international instruments. This applies to our relations with all countries, including Nicaragua. I refer the hon. Member to my speech to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in Geneva on 10 February 1987, a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House.
