§ Mr. DunnLocal education authorities make an annual return of expenditure and income to the Department of the Environment and my Department and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy have access to the figures. CIPFA also collect budgeted figures from local authorities. The latest information is contained in columns 153 to 194 of "Education Statistics 1986–87 Estimates" published by CIPFA, a copy of which is in the Library. The information covers special schools but not special classes in primary and secondary schools. This information is not available centrally.
