It is estimated that the current costs to the National Health Service in England is in the range of £20–£30 milllion per year. This represents between 0.13 and 0.19 per cent. of the total annual expenditure on the NHS in England, and between 0.04 and 0.06 per cent. of the total budgets for which the Department is responsible in England.
