§ Mr. Sternasked the Secretary of State for Energy what assumption is being made in all of the studies into the proposed Severn barrage as to the future status of the estuarial and ports statutory rights, and as to the effects on ports and the ships using them.
§ Mr. David HuntNo assumptions have been made in the further Severn Barrage studies on the impact on ports and shipping. This issue will be a matter for close consultation with the relevant authorities during the course of the studies. The consultation document giving details of the studies to be undertaken was published on 16 February and is being distributed to all interested parties for comment by the end of March. Copies have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
