§ Mr. GummerBecause of the number of factors involved, it is not possible to make a detailed assessment of the impact on the United Kingdom fishing industry of the changes in the TAC's and quotas agreed for 1987. While opportunities for the whitefish stocks in the North sea are reduced, the effect of this is likely to be offset to some extent by an increase in the unit value of landings, as a consequence of reduced supplies. Quotas for the main pelagic fisheries and for a number of other whitefish stocks have been increased.
