§ Mr. AncramExisting legislation already enables local authorities to appoint dog wardens. Under the Dogs Act 1906, as amended by the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, such wardens, where appointed, have the same powers as the police to seize, detain and dispose of stray dogs. There are at present no plans for further legislation on this matter.
