HC Deb 18 February 1987 vol 110 cc623-4W
Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement regarding the progress of the road-widening work on the M63.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Two of the three main contracts for widening of the M63 between junctions 1 and 7 west of Manchester started about 12 months ago. Work is progressing well. One contract (junctions 5 to 7) is programmed to finish in summer 1988, and the other (junctions 1 to 3 including Barton bridge) early in 1989.

Construction of the final section (junctions 3 to 5) should start in about six months time and be finished by autumn 1989.
