HL Deb 17 February 1987 vol 484 c1088WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What contacts they have with the United States Defense Co-operation Working Group, and whether co-operation within this group, the purpose of which is to eliminte duplicated research and development projects, includes non-NATO governments and if so which.

Lord Trefgarne

I understand that the United States Defense Co-operation Working Group is an internal US Department of Defense body which has been set up to oversee the planning and execution of the Department of Defense's armaments co-operation policy relating to NATO countries, non-NATO Allies and other countries friendly to the US. Being an internal US body, Her Majesty's Government have had no direct contact with the group and is not party to its discussions.
