§ Mrs. RumboldLocal education authorities in England spent just over £64 million on school books in 1984–85, the latest year for which firm figures are available. In both 1982–83 and 1983–84 the figure was £65 million. Expenditure on schools in Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
