HL Deb 17 February 1987 vol 484 cc1085-6WA
Lord Gallacher

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether grants for purposes connected with co-operative activities, as described in Part IV of the Agricultural and Fisheries (Financial Assistance) (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 are available to wholesale and production societies and retail societies registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

Production, storage and marketing co-operatives, formed and operated by agricultural or horticultural producers are in general eligible for grant. A purely requisite co-operative is ineligible for grant except for certain research studies. The status of any applicant for grant will be a matter for Food for Britain to consider in each case.
