§ Dr. Marekasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the research projects currently in progress into meningococcal infections;
(2) what plans he has for further research into meningococcal infections;
(3) how much money has been spent by his Department on (a) research into and (b) publicity and health 284W education regarding meningococcal infections in (i) the last year and (ii) the last five years for which figures are available;
(4) if he will take steps to encourage early diagnosis of meningococcal infections and an increase in public awareness of the disease and its symptons;
(5) if he will add all meningococcal infections, and in particular meningococcal septicaemia to the list of notifiable diseases; and if he will make a statement.
