§ 46. Mr. Canavanasked the Solicitor-General for Scotland whether, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Falkirk, West on 26 November 1986, Official Report, columns 261–3, about illegal fishing by the Duke of Argyll and his associates, he has had any further response from the Duke of Argyll; and whether the Crown Office will now take action to prosecute.
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandThe trustees of the tenth Duke of Argyll have indicated they do not accept the method of fishing used in the past was necessarily illegal. However, they have given a written undertaking to the effect that the fishing will not be resumed unless and until it can be shown to be within the law.
