HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 c157W
Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his reply of 17 November 1986, Official Report, column 46, whether the sale of Spectrum Arena to CPW Leisure Ltd. has now been completed; what use he expects the arena will be put to after its sale; and how and where the money made from its sale will be spent.

Mr. John Patten

I understand that the proposed sale of Spectrum Arena to CPW Leisure Ltd. is not proceeding. The Warrington and Runcorn development corporation is actively seeking alternative offers. Its general expectation is that the arena will remain in leisure use. The corporation has indicated its intention to seek the Department's approval to spend a part of the proceeds of a sale on appropriate new facilities in Birchwood.
