HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 c174W
Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many of the 39 prison officers' houses at Culcheth have now been sold; how long they were unoccupied before their sale; how much they were sold for; which estate agents sold them; and how the money from the sale will be used.

Mr. Mellor

None of the 39 houses has been sold because offers so far received have not met the conditions of sale referred to in my reply to the hon. Member of 28 April 1986 at column307. Marketing has now been suspended pending agreement on adoption specifications by the local authority.

Most of the houses have now been unoccupied for five to six years. Receipts from the sale will be credited as appropriations in aid to the Prisons (England and Wales) Vote, Class XI, 2.
