HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 cc186-7W
Mrs. McCurley

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will consider making funds available to each area health board to ensure the development of at least one fully equipped and specially recognised centre of excellence in infertility treatment within each area.

Mr. John MacKay

It is for individual health boards to determine, in the light of the resources available to them, the extent to which they should make infertility services available in their areas and how such services should be organised.

Mrs. McCurley

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress his Department is making on research into the causes of, and treatment for, male infertility.

Mr. John MacKay

The Scottish Home and Health Department is at present funding a research project at Edinburgh university relevant to male infertility.
