HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 c166W
Mr. Greg Knight

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the additives currently permitted to be used in beer brewed or sold within the United Kingdom; and if he proposes any changes.

Mr. Donald Thompson

Beer may contain any additive permitted for general food use plus those specifically permitted for use in beer by the Preservatives in Food Regulations 1979. We have no plans at present to change existing controls, but food additives regulations are kept under continuous review and are amended when necessary, taking into account the advice of the Food Advisory Committee and after consultation with all interests.
